2nd Annual Lyme Disease in the Era of Precision Medicine Conference

The Institute for Next Generation Healthcare hosted its 2nd Annual Lyme Disease in the Era of Precision Medicine conference on October 3, 2017 at The New York Academy of Medicine and sponsored by the Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation: Lyme Disease Initiative. This year’s conference focussed on innovation using next generation technologies applied to improve diagnostics and treatment, translational data science, and ecological awareness and prevention. Dr. Charles Chiu, Director of the UCSF-Abbott Viral Diagnostics and Discovery Center, delivered the keynote address discussing the use of metagenomic diagnosis of Lyme disease and other Tick-borne infections. Other invited speakers include Dr. Annemarie Hirsch of the Geisinger Health System; Dr. Nicole Baumgarth at the Center for Comparative Medicine at the University of California, Davis; Dr. Richard Marconi at the School of Medicine at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center; and Dr. Joao Pedra at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

The October4, 2016 LymeMIND conference brought together exciting sessions devoted to Human Vaccination, Diagnosis, Treatment, Big Data, Awareness, and Education, including abstract and poster presentations. The conference helped catalyze a new culture of innovation and collaboration highlighting new technologies and methodologies specific to our collective work in the Lyme disease community.
